revolution

the Earth
trembles
slowly
it turns

night to day
to night
Sun and Moon
rise and fall

a man strikes
the soil
in the season
he plants
he harvests

rain
rains down
and the rivers
rise up

the dry earth
cracks
and the rivers
dry up

the old cough in
empty chairs
as infants clench
their tiny fists

a woman bares
her breast
in war and peace
she feeds
she weeps

bombs rain
down
blood
rises up

hands beat
down
a rhythm
rises up

crow, fly
to your desert Sun
and gull, cry
to your ocean Moon

cities can
sparkle in the night
and building cast
shadows for the day

there is love, there is hate

a man to heal
a woman to spit
a boy to fill
a girl to forgive

a gun is fired and the earth turns

the people try
they fail
their children try
the Earth trembles

slowly it turns
our face to darkness
our face to the Sun
trembling.
